From Beginner to Swimmer!

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum age: 3 years old
• Prior swim experience: None required

Cost:

• Per Month of Attendance: $120
• Waynesville Recreational Center Pass: $20 monthly (not valid outside of time of swim lessons)

The Aqua Academy follows a progressive structure, which begins with foundational comfort and moves toward advanced self-rescue while utilizing the skills below:

Water Competency: Entering the water, surfacing, floating or treading water, changing positions, and swimming to safety.

Self-Rescue Techniques: "Jump, Push, Turn, Grab" - a sequence for children who unexpectedly fall into water and need to return to the wall.

Swim-Float-Swim: Teaching swimmers to roll onto their back to rest and breathe before continuing to swim toward safety.

Breath Control: Learning to hold breath, blow bubbles, and manage submersions safely.

Hazard Recognition: Educating students on pool rules, boating safety, and the unique dangers of open water environments such as lakes and rivers.
